The Creative Doer LIVE retreat

We’ll connect deeply, as creative peers and as women walking a similar path, and during these five days, beautiful sisterhoods will be forged.

We’ll also spend focused time doing our own creative work. Our days will be divided into time for group work and time for solitary exploration. This is your longed-for opportunity to really commit – or re-commit – to your dream.

If you’ve longed for time to devote to exploring your creativity, with the help of supportive structures, inspiring teachings, and likeminded sisters, this retreat is for you. Learn more and register here.

Step out of the everyday, and into the sacred, wild
landscapes of your creativity

This May, you’re invited to a magical old manor house deep in the heart of the Swedish forest. When the Nordic summer draws near and the evening light lasts forever, we’ll gather in a circle and unleash some serious creative magic.

We’ll connect deeply, as creative peers and as women walking a similar path, and during these five days, beautiful sisterhoods will be forged.

We’ll also spend focused time doing our own creative work. Our days together will be divided into time for group work and time for solitary exploration. You use your solitary time as your heart desires; look at it as a longed-for opportunity to really commit – or re-commit – to your dream.

Bring your notebook and pen and write a little bit everyday. Bring your watercolours and spend a couple of hours daily in the studio (top floor, big windows, magical light. I’ll say no more). Bring your own instrument – or use one of the pianos in the house – and create music. Bring your camera, your knitting, your love for cooking, your latest creative business scheme, and make use of these precious hours, all devoted to you and your creativity.

“After this retreat, I’m just full of light – beyond words <3. I’ve found so
many possibilities here, so much beauty. I feel gifted. My heart sparkles
today, so grateful for all new experiences, insights and connections.
Thank you, shining Anna.”

Eva Grierson

During our group work we’ll zoom in on a few crucial questions:

What wants to express through me right now? How can I get out of my own way long enough to let it FLOW? How can I create from a place of ease and joy, rather than striving?

We’ll use simple but powerful techniques like journaling, meditation, dancing and sharing to find the answers that will release your flow and help you grow. We’ll shake our creative spirits loose by approaching creativity from all angles, bringing it into every moment of every day, and watch how even the most mundane task becomes an expression of sacred creativity. We’ll involve all our senses, our bodies, nature, food – cooking and creating beauty around our meals.

You’ll (re-)learn simple practices that will fill you up to the brim and allow you to overflow – and that overflow will spill into your work, your words, your art in a way that is as effortless as it is powerful

We’ll devote ourselves, heart and soul, to the art of overflowing.

And then we’ll dive into our own work and see what happens when we create from that space. If you’ve longed for focused time to devote to exploring your work, with the help of supportive structures, inspiring teachings, and likeminded sisters, this retreat is for you.

“I’ve never realized how powerful it is for women to come together and share thoughts, feelings and experiences about creativity. I learned so much, both from you and from the other participants, and I got so much inspiration for my own creative work. The insights from the retreat have built a little nest in my heart. It feels impossible to go back to what was before. Something new is starting to take over, to grow, and move forward. Magic lingers after this weekend.”

Karin Björkman

“An unforgettable weekend of vulnerable words finding their way through the mist rising from our teacups. Stories unfurling like fern on silent forest walks. Barefoot dancing through old fears. Looking deeply. Laughing loudly. Crying safely. Letting go. Thank you for making the retreat so magical.”

The circle of likeminded women will create a safe space to open up. It will support you in leaving behind whatever you’ve outgrown and that no longer serves you, so that new things can grow, wild things, the kind you truly long for.

The wilderness surrounding us will serve you in this process, it will draw you out of your head and into your body, where all the intuitive wisdom you are searching for can be found. The forest rests on the very doorstep of the manor house, the river runs through the landscape a stone’s throw away, and it’s all available for us to enjoy.

What kind of retreat is this (and what is it not)?

This is not a bootcamp or a quick fix. We are not going to rush or push our way to anything. Because you and I both know that true creative power is found in softening, so that things can flow; in opening, so that whatever wants to be expressed through us can come through; in listening, so that we can find true clarity.

Our days together will roughly look like this:

  • We gather early in the morning for a meditation or movement pratice. If you’d rather use this time for a morning walk, for some solitary creative work, or to just snuggle up in bed a bit longer, you’re welcome to do so.
  • Eva serves us a generous and nourishing breakfast buffet and then we get ready for today’s work.
  • We bring our teacups and gather for some group work, inside or outside, and carry on until lunch, which will be vegetarian and delicious, like all the rest of the food served on the retreat.
  • All afternoons are yours to spend on your own creative work, save one, when you’ll be invited into the world of vegatarian cooking along with a few of your sisters, and learn about creativity in the kitchen from my co-teacher Eva.
  • Dinner is served around the big table in the great dining hall, lit by inummerous candles.
  • Afterwards we gather for a short evening session together, were we’ll talk about the insights, setbacks and breakthroughs we’ve had, and bring the day to a close.
  • After all this you might be ready for a good night’s sleep. But if not – feel free to keep creating, take a walk in the enchanting light (evenings are long and bright at this time of year), or spend some slow time in front of one of the many fire places, reading a book or just enjoying the company.
  • We’ll have spacious, peaceful, yet intense days, where you’ll do important work, but also have time to rest, eat delicious food, and walk in nature. Any sense of overwhelm is left at the door. This is sacred ground and we have all the time we need.

There will be silence, laughter, chocolate and so much love.

“It’s a brave thing to sign up, to show up and to trust the process. To share your ideas, your longing and your struggles with people you have never met before. Still it felt easy and safe all the way. The feeling I’ve had since the retreat is that I’ve been receiving much more than I’ve asked for. Things are coming from all directions. I don’t know exactly what my next step is, but I’m not worried since the retreat also gave me a lot of tools to figure it out. Thank you Anna, for creating this space for us!”

Who is it for?

You don’t need to be an artist or have reached a certain level with your creative work to participate, although you’ll get the most out of the retreat if you have some particular dream, project or practice that you want to work on and explore during the solitary time. Whether you are in the midst of a creative project or you are just getting started is less important. Either way, you’ll find focused time, useful tools and reliable nourishment here.

When?

We gather in the afternoon, Wednesday May 24th, and wrap up with lunch on Sunday May 28th. Dinner is served at 6 pm CET on Wednesday but you are welcome to check in from 5 pm. On Sunday, the shuttle for Bollnäs train station leaves at 1 pm CET (arrives at Bollnäs train station at 1.45 pm).

Where?

The magical manor house of Voxna Bruk, built in 1790, in Voxnabruk, Sweden.

“This retreat truly nourished my being. Just taking the time to nourish the slow, the creative, the trusting. I carry it with me into my daily life and I’m having creative outbursts all over the place! Thank you!”

“Thank you for this magical weekend! It was such a perfect combo to do The Creative Doer online course, and then to come to the retreat. I left the retreat feeling so incredibly stoked and determined to go for it. And I’ve kept that promise. I’ve been working every single day on my project since I got home. I’m doing this now! I really am, but in my own (slow) pace. Thank you!”

Accommodation

TRoom and board is included in the admission cost. You arrive here on Wednesday afternoon and from then on we’ve got your needs covered. You’ll stay in a single or twin room in the manor house – which is a truly magical, beautiful building, ripe with stories and probably a ghost or two. There are fireplaces in most rooms, old squeaky hardwood floors, and the large windows with handblown glass offers peaceful views of the surrounding forests and rivers. The beds are all new and comfy, but this is a very old estate and it has it’s quirks and charms, including a total of only two showers and no bathrooms in the attic (hence the lower price). All available bathrooms are situated in the hallways.

how to get there

The nearest train station is Bollnäs. There’s a direct route from Stockholm to Bollnäs, and at 5 pm we’ve arranged for a shuttle to take you the rest of the way to the manor house. Visit sj.se to book your trip or find connecting trains or buses.

The nearest international airport is Arlanda. You can catch the train from Arlanda Airport straight to Bollnäs, or you can take the airport shuttle to Stockholm and catch a train from there, or rent a car for the weekend and drive.

If you need to cancel more than 21 days before the first day of the retreat, we will return your payment minus a $125 non-refundable deposit. If you cancel within 21 days of the retreat or intensive, we will not refund any monies. Hey Beauty,

I’m Anna Lovind, writer and creativity mentor. I’m also a mama, a happy introvert, and a fierce believer in the power of creative women gathering together to make shit happen.

I’m the creator of online course The Creative Doer, and I love to offer these live retreats as a branch of the beautiful Creative Doer tree.

Eva Nylander is a vegetarian cook and project manager with a passion for making the everyday beautiful. She will keep us fed and nourished, body and soul, throughout the retreat, and she’ll invite you into the kitchen to play and create with her. She’ll also guide us to let go through dance and movement.

We’re beyond excited to for the first time be able to host the retreat in this particular house, in this particular corner of the world, because this landscape is magical, the sky is vast and the woods offer deep nourishment. We want to share that with you.

We can’t wait to meet you, love.
